"The compositions on this site are
meant to outline a general concept of
the particular piece. When it says
"Abbaji" kaida for example, it in no
way intends to show how truly deep
the composition is, or that I can even
grasp it's full depth and beauty in my
hand or mind. I am only a student in
this art and Abbaji's level of
greatness can only truly be
understood by senior like minded
people who are very few in this world".
Jim Feist
I have put a few small pieces of tabla solo
on this site to hopefully bring the
wonderful sound and tradition of this
incredible instrument to people who
normally would not be exposed to it.  I
strongly suggest that you do a web search
on
Yogesh Samsi, Zakir Hussain,  Anindo
Chatterji, Suresh Talwalkar, and Swapan
Chaudhuri. The music that flows from their
hands comes from god himself. I am
constantly reminded of the depth of this
instrument when after years of practice, I
see the ocean of music that can be
created from it growing, and growing.
Insh'allah one day I hope to venture out of
the harbour.
